The JAXPORT Intermodal Container Transfer Facility (ICTF) serves as a rail facility providing existing and future customers with enhanced intermodal connections, including direct access to rail services rendered by CSX. State and Federal sources funded this project to provide direct access to CSX-owned rail lines and the U.S. Interstate System. The ICTF is a vital component of JAXPORT’s intermodal transportation system, enabling it to fulfil its role as a Global Cargo Gateway.
Implemented through the design-build delivery method, this project encompassed the construction of the ICTF and the relocation of Dames Point Road and CertainTeed/CEMEX Tracks. It proceeded in two concurrent phases: Phase 1 involved the design and relocation of Dames Point Road and utility relocations, while Phase 2 consisted of the design and construction of the ICTF.
This project included phasing with all stakeholders and regulatory agencies, including Jacksonville Port Authority, CSX Corporation, Army Corps of Engineers, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), City of Jacksonville, and Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA), which was essential throughout the project.
