What we’re looking for:

This position leads and oversees the development of DBK’s market-focused sales deliverables including qualifications, proposals, and presentations, as well as key strategic sales pursuits and marketing initiatives.  The Senior Proposal and Marketing Specialist will apply writing skills, proofreading, editing, and graphics while leading the proposal effort from its inception through the production of final document submission. This role includes a significant focus on supporting marketing, business development, and sales initiatives in DBK’s preferred markets by promoting DBK’s brand through compelling visuals and content, storytelling, and proposal theming and messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal/RFQ/Presentation Responsibilities

  • Participate in Go/No Go Evaluations.
  • Develop an effective proposal plan.
  • Lead competitive analysis and proposal messaging.
  • Manage the proposal/qualifications development process.
  • Develop, design, and produce qualifications, proposals, brochures, presentations, award submittals, and other marketing assignments. This will include non-technical writing, editing, basic graphics, and compliance.
  • Lead presentation teams and the development of the presentation approach, structure, and messaging.


  • Collect, prepare, update, and enhance DBK’s library of proposal templates.
  • Track and maintain a database of projects, sectors, clients, sub-consultants, and other contacts and information in CRM (Cosential is our current program).


  • Develop strong marketing content for targeted clients and client submittals by supporting and collaborating with our internal subject matter experts, project managers, and client management teams.
  • Participate in the planning, development, and execution of marketing campaigns/social media/ website.
  • Participate in Client Relationship Plan and Sales Meetings and support competitive market analysis.
  • Coordinate public relations, advertising, and other outside events (i.e., tradeshows) as required, which may require some travel.

Required experience:

  • Diploma or Degree in marketing, advertising, communications, English, journalism, creative writing, business administration, architecture, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in related proposal and marketing role with 3+ years of experience in the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and competency with InDesign as the principal layout tool and with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Illustrator, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Excellent communication (written, verbal, graphic, visual) skills, with strong editing capabilities.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with acute attention to accuracy.
  • Self-directed, results-oriented with an ability to work under pressure and handle tight deadlines.
  • Maintains a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • A self-starter that can work both independently as well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate a high level of creativity using graphics (photos, graphs, charts, etc.) to improve communication in written documents.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing fundamentals and best practices, digital communications, and social media strategies.
  • Ability to work unscheduled overtime under tight deadlines.

Desired experience:

  • Experience developing marketing content in the context of construction based on qualifications, design-build delivery, and construction management delivery is an asset.
  • Some knowledge of DBK’s core business (construction processes, operations, delivery models, contract types).
  • Some knowledge of competition and a basic understanding of market trends.
  • Understanding of construction terminology and delivery methods with the ability to rapidly grasp concepts and technical processes is also an asset.
